You ever have a moment when you hear a song on the radio or at a party… and you think of the time when you heard that song for the 1st time? I did this weekend and I was taken back to a different time in my life, surrounded by different people and vices all around. I’m glad I’m past that stage in my life… but I have great memories of crazy nights, and the people that I shared many of those great times with.
The song I heard this weekend was “The Sun Is Shining” by Bob Marley (the remix version with Funkstar Deluxe), and the person that popped into my head at that moment was Jonathan Fox.
I gave him the nickname “Dr. Fox” and his brother Justin was dubbed “The Intern” respectively. Jon introduced us all to that freshly remixed version of “The Sun Is Shining” and it was at the time when we lived to soak up the sun and everything else in excess.
Those were the days, but… Where is my friend Jon Fox?
I only ask because… when I heard that song again – I was at a family get-together and I’m in the pool with my son Sasha, just cruising around the water and thinking… Life sure is different today than it was just a few years ago, but I still enjoy having good times with the best of friends, sharing the great moments and the life stuffs that go with it. All of that said, the people around me are different too, for a variety of reasons. Some I miss (like Jon and others), and some I don’t.
I’ve always said that “it’s healthy to cut the fat” sometimes and shed peoples from your life (if they are negative or pulling you down), but other times this happens all by itself; some people in our lives just fade away. It is a shame when a good friend goes away for the wrong reason(s), or if they get caught up in that cutting of the fat… But its a real shame when you realize that some of the peoples not in your life were more like brothers than just friends fading away…
I digress! Going back to that moment – The sun was shining, and the weather was sweet. I thought (Jon would really have really liked this).
So Jonathon Fox ( If You’re Out There) I Just…
Want you to know i’m a rainbow too
So, to the rescue here i am
Want you to know just if you can
Where i stand, know, know, know, know, know
