The stockings are empty, all of the presents are unwrapped, and the egg nog is no longer giving you a buzz, its giving you a headache without the warm and fuzzy feeling.
If you’re like me, you’ve got the post-holiday blues. Lets look at this with a sense of humor though, are we really that upset.. or are we entering a new state of bliss? Good Question!
Realistically speaking, I think we’re all much better off than we were just a few days ago… but WHY do I say that? Think about it for a moment… All of the pre-holiday hustle and bustle has calmed down, traffic should be a little lighter, less anxiety over the gifts you bought and/or the ones you didn’t, we should all be a little more relaxed right? NO?
Hey hey let’s all just sit back and really take a look at the world through these rose-colored glasses. Or if you prefer, lets say they’re red and green, and have a dash of sparkle on the edges.
I’m so relieved now that the holidays are over, and we get a few days to relax and re-energize for the BIG night on the town, New Years Eve. So if you’re sad and you think you have the post-holiday blues, … Just snap out of it! You can go back to life as normal, WITH all of the new sweaters, socks, tooth brushes, and iTunes gift cards you got as gifts and be merry with them all.
I know I won’t miss the deceiving sales that all of the retail stores promote (really just discounting the already marked-up prices), and I won’t miss all of the impatient people honking and swearing at each other while trying to grab freshly-unoccupied parking spaces in the mall lots. HEY LADY – Don’t You See My Turn Signal On?!
All of the great things that the holidays bring, after the holidays can be a real downer, but they don’t have to be. “The best thing that I got this year was the look on my children’s faces when they opened up that dream box. I’ll take those memories with me forever.
